Heat Manipulations and Print

This collection is a material-driven study focused on heat-forming reclaimed leather as a method of construction without stitching. By applying controlled heat through a campfire, lighter flame, and wood-burning tools, the leather is manipulated, cinched, and shaped directly, allowing the material to define form on its own terms. Each burning method leaves distinct marks, textures, and structural responses, celebrating unpredictability and imperfection as design assets. The process challenges traditional garment construction techniques and proposes an alternative future for fashion that prioritizes material intelligence over excess assembly. Working with reclaimed leather reinforces a commitment to sustainability, slow development, and mindful making, while elevating a reused material into a high-fashion context. Through heat, leather becomes both surface and structure, demonstrating new possibilities for form, control, and expression within sustainable fashion practices.

Rorschach Leather- Leather 1

This material exploration uses reclaimed leather as both surface and structure, combining UV flatbed repeat printing with an ink Rorschach inspired motif to emphasize symmetry and psychological reflection. The print interacts with the natural imperfections of the leather. A wood-burning tool was used to cinch and manipulate the leather, creating form and volume without traditional stitching. This heat-based intervention transforms the material through controlled distortion, This material exploration uses reclaimed leather as both surface and structure, combining UV flatbed repeat printing with an ink Rorschach inspired motif to emphasize symmetry and psychological reflection.

Burnt Surface- Leather 2

This print explores the rugged surfaces of burned landscapes and the psychological impact of worn materials, examining how heat-based burn manipulation transforms both appearance and perception, allowing the material to shift emotionally and visually through controlled destruction and renewal.

Large Burn Sample- Leather 3

This large-scale leather sample is inspired by burn marks on paper and explores how heat manipulates surface, texture, and form when applied to a large scale. This demonstrates the visual and structural impact of controlled burning on reclaimed leather and highlighting how this effect intensifies and transforms when translated to a larger scale.
