Fossilized Interpretations
The goal of this project is to explore fabric manipulation techniques inspired by marine fossils, focusing on the unique textures, forms, and patterns found in sea fossils. I was mainly interested in the trilobites (what horseshoe crabs are) and ammonites (the creatures with the large swirly shells). I also want to evoke the feeling of these objects being excavated from the earth. I wanted to use different pleats and layering techniques to show these natural patterns for example the spine of a trilobite.
